Long Time No See

Hi Friends!

I know it's been a while since my last post and I'm sorry.  I didn't want to be one of those "now you see me, now you don't" bloggers.  It's been a whirlwind since Mother's Day, which BTW was fabulous.  My kids made me cards and cooked my oatmeal and my hubby picked up my favorite drink from Dunkin' Donuts, and they bought me some aromatherapy candles.

I got to thinking about my last post and it may have seemed a little materialistic, I want you all to know that I didn't and never expect any lavish gifts for Mother's Day, my birthday, or any other holiday for that matter.  I have all I could ever want...we are all healthy and happy.  I am an avid magazine reader so as I browse through mags and blogs things catch my eye.  I like to share those things and so I did.  My mom's day was "Ah-Mazing"!

Right after Mom's day, my hubby, my kids and I put in a short week at school and work and jetted off to beautiful Sanibel Island, which is an island on the Gulf coast of Florida, just offshore of Fort Myers.  After seven days in sunny Florida, I took over 400 pictures and had more fun with family and friends than you could ever imagine.  I have so much to share.

Stay tuned...

Mother's Day Gift Guide

I subscribe to way more magazines than I actually have time to read, but I do like to look at the pictures.  I have been perusing the April and May issues of many of my favs and have compiled a Mother's Day Gift Guide Wish List.  Here are a few of the items that any mom would be delighted with.

  • Kate Spade "Mom Always Said" Bracelet Bangle bracelet

Engraved inside with "Mom Always Said" and engraved outside with "Smile Often, Call Home, Say Thank You".  LOVE LOVE LOVE this, but unfortunately it is out of stock all over.

  • Cake Pop Maker by Baby Cakes

Cake pops are said to be fun to make and even more fun to eat. They are the latest sweet treats to tantalize tastebuds. I have a friend who makes these delighful bite size pieces of heaven and I must admit, they are amazing.

  • Vera Wang Brushstroke Scarf

This flowing, abstract Simply Vera by Vera Wang Brushstroke Scarf is the perfect splash of color: wrapped as a headband, draped around her shoulders or tied on her purse handle.
  • Monogrammed Candle
She'll love something personal, like a soy Monogrammed Candle in Tangerine-Vanilla scent. Choose from 5 monogram styles and 4 colors: navy, pink, green and brown.
  • Michael Kors 'Runway' Rose Gold Watch
Michael Kors MK5128 Womens Rose Gold Chronograph Watch

Three-eye chronograph dial is detailed with an offset date window and encased in irresistible rose gold. A classic bracelet band is the perfect finish. Ok, I have a little "love affair" with Michael Kors watches.  I currently have a gold one (a sales incentive I won at work) and a clear/silver one (an anniversary gift from my hubby) - this would make a great addition to my collection, don't ya think?

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you're mom will love and appreciate the thought and if nothing else, pick up the phone and tell her how much you love her.

Celebrate your mom this weekend!

Sometimes All You Need is a Little Girlfriend Therapy

I saw Kate Hudson on Jay Leno promoting her new movie "Something Borrowed" and Jay Leno said this was his favorite scene from the movie:

I can see why and can absolutely relate.  My BFF and I have been known to dance and sing in our pajamas like preteens at a slumber party on many occassions.  It is truly the best therapy.

This video made me laugh out loud - I hope it does the same for you!

SO WHAT! Wednesday

I'm teaming up with Shannon over at Life After I “Dew” and this week I am saying SO WHAT if:
  • I am still holding a grudge over the RSVP issue, I put a lot of planning into my events, whether large or small and I think it's rude to not tell your host in advance if you can't attend
  • I'm up early to get a proposal done for work and instead I'm updating my blog
  • I'm still trying to find my place in the blogging world ~ it's only been three weeks and at least my blog is cute
  • I think that sometimes Kirstie Alley is a hot mess on Dancing with the Stars, Maks is her partner and he can make anybody look good
  • I'm hoping Hines Ward takes home the Mirror Ball Trophy on DWTS to make up for the fact that my beloved Steelers didn't bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the Superbowl
  • If I abandoned Weight Watchers two weeks before I leave for a family vacation to Florida - I'm just going to eat out everyday and drink fruity, frothy drinks at the pool
  • If I've convinced myself that counting Weight Watchers points at the beach is prohibited ;)
  • If I should have been in the shower 20 minutes ago and I'm still working on my "SO WHAT! Wednesday post - I've mentioned before that I'm all about prioritizing right?
Enjoy your Wednesday!

The Lost Art of the RSVP

In this completely connected world we live in today, can it really be that hard to RSVP?

I mean serioulsy a phone call, a text message, a Facebook inbox message - there are so many ways to RSVP to an invitation.  RSVP (Répondez s’il vous plaît), translates to “please respond".  So why do people fail to reply? Are they so busy that they're afraid to commit to the date? Do they have so many invitations that they can’t decide which event to attend?  Is their schedule literally so full that they can't find their way to the phone or the computer to say yes or no to the invitation?

In any case - if invited by telephone, hand-written card, or even via a modern method like social networks - it still means that a guest should have the courtesy to let the host/ess know if he or she is able or unable to attend.  Most party hosts expect and prefer invited guests to accept or decline an invitation, avoiding the uncertainty of planning.

It’s polite, and the right thing to do.  So when you open your next invitation, think of our your host who is planning and preparing and RSVP.

Cordially,
