Life Exists without Facebook

I assure you of that.

Lately, I feel like I have done more than my share of explaining why I DIDN'T know something for the mere fact that I missed it on Facebook. :/  Sad, but true.  It seems that because I decided to step back from the time-stealing world of Facebook, my family and friends think I have lost my mind.  I haven't lost my mind at all.  Actually, I feel like I have gotten my mind back.

Listen, I was an early adopter of Facebook and a photo-sharing freak.  I get it.  I don't hate it.  I just don't need it.  I may change my mind in the future, but as for right now - I like my little world of Twitter and Instagram.  Quick bursts from me, lots of cute photos of my kids and puppy, oh and my daily dose of inspiration.  Just because I didn't see it on Facebook doesn't mean that I don't care.  Seriously, our world has become so dependent on Facebook to share family updates, conduct business, discuss political views, spew personal drama, and for some, tell the world what you had for dinner.  I like Facebook for the fact that I have reconnected with friends from the past.  I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all.  I loved it for a long time.  It's just not for me anymore.  I can still manage FB pages from an app on my phone without having to get sucked into the entire Facebook experience.

My family and I have crazy busy lives and something had to give.  For me, it was Facebook. So, I don't miss it at all.  Do you want to know why?  It's because, if you are a part of my life - I know what's going on with you and your family.  We talk.  We see each other.  We share. I have pictures of your kids hanging in my house.  We don't need a social media platform to be social with one another.  So many days I would scroll through my feed and see so many unwanted photos of abused animals, dogs being left out in the cold, and more ads for the weight-loss scam Garcinia Cambogia than I could even count that I just lost interest. I get invited to about five different groups and/or events a week and to be honest, who has time to keep up with all of them?  For me, it's just not possible.

I haven't deleted my account.  I'm still here. I only check in a couple times a week, but if I missed something that's important to you - I'm sorry.  I do care.

Still here,
